JONESBORO, IL (KFVS) -

A suspect in a Nebraska homicide appeared in court on Tuesday in Union County, Illinois.

Dr. Anthony Garcia of Indiana was arrested as a fugitive of justice during a traffic stop Monday in Union County.

State's Attorney Tyler Edmonds says Garcia is being investigated in connection with murder charges in Douglas County, Nebraska.

Garcia was taken into custody on Interstate 57 near the 36-mile marker.

He is suspected to have involvement in the killings of three adults and an 11-year old boy.

Garcia appeared in a Union County courtroom Tuesday.

Garcia is charged with four counts of first-degree murder and four counts of using a weapon to commit a crime.

The FBI and Omaha police chief searched Garcia's vehicle Tuesday outside of Union County sheriff's office, reportedly looking for evidence tied to the murder case.

"Today, I am able to provide a sense of closure to the victims' families, Creighton University and the Omaha Community," said Todd Schamaderer, Omaha Police Chief.

Garcia will be back in court on Wednesday.

Union County State's Attorney Tyler Edmonds says right now it's likely that he will drop the DUI and gun charges against anthony Garcia, to help move along the extradition process.

But he says he's still trying to decide how to proceed.
