Motorcyclist injured after bike collides with car

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

A motorcyclist was injured after their bike collided with a car in Cape Girardeau on Tuesday afternoon.

It happened on North Sprigg Street near New Madrid Street.

Cape Girardeau Fire Department along with Cape Girardeau Police, Southeast Missouri State Police and ambulance services responded.

Police say a speeding motorcycle collided with a car that was southbound making a left turn.

Officers say the bike was going twice the speed limit of 30 mph. They say they believe the accelerator was stuck at the time of the crash.

The motorcyclist received non life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Two people in the car were not injured.

Both lanes of Sprigg St. were closed to traffic for cleanup.
