CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Police have released the identity of a man killed in a crash on Interstate 55 on Wednesday.

James. D. Holloway, 56, of Corsicana, Texas was killed in the crash, according to Cape Girardeau police.

Both lanes of Interstate 55 near the 98 mile marker southbound in Cape Girardeau were shut down due to the deadly crash.

Holloway was driving a tractor-trailer that crashed around 4:50 p.m. near the 97.2 mile marker on I-55, according to Cape Girardeau police. It appears the semi ran off the road, busted through the guardrail and ended up in a wooded area. It then caught fire.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Traffic crash investigators are back on the scene Thursday morning continuing the investigation.

Traffic may be moving slow through the area of the 97 mile marker due to emergency vehicles parked on the side of the highway.
