Sportswriters up in arms over Clowney All-SEC vote

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Sportswriters and pundits, who routinely love to snipe at each other, are not surprisingly at each other again Thursday morning with the release of the All-SEC team list.

And it all has to do with South Carolina junior defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and what many pundits perceive as a slight against the potential Heisman candidate.

Clowney, of course, was named to the preseason first team All-SEC team, which is an honor all on its own.

But sportswriters seem to be upset that Clowney wasn't a unanimous first team pick out of the 243 media members who voted on the list.

"243 media voted for All-SEC team: 20 did not vote for Jadeveon Clowney on first team. Please identify yourself," tweeted ESPN's Brett McMurphy.

"Jadeveon Clowney was left OFF 20 of 243 ballots for preseason All-SEC. We can only assume they haven't seen [The Hit]," tweeted ESPN's official SportsCenter account.

"20 people didn't vote for Clowney for the All-SEC team," said Bleacher Report's Barrett Sallee. "That's inexcusable."

It may be inexcusable for most South Carolina fans, but it's also known that no one in the entire Southeastern Conference was a unanimous pick for the preseason list this year.
