BUCKNER, IL (KFVS) -

A Franklin County Grand Jury returned a three count indictment against a Buckner police officer.

The jury returned an indictment against William P. McKinney charging him with aggravated battery of a senior citizen, official misconduct and involuntary manslaughter, according to Franklin County State's Attorney Evan L. Owens.

Roy D. Barnhart, 62, was arrested by McKinney on July 7.

He was taken from Buckner to Herrin Hospital, then flown to St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis. Barnhart was treated for a head injury which caused a brain bleed. He died on July 12.

The Illinois State Police investigated.

William was in custody of the Franklin County Sheriff. His bond was set at $500,000.
