TODD COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Kentucky State Police and the Todd County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of an aircraft crash on KY 181, near Liberty Road, north of Elkton on Tuesday, July 23 around 9:35 a.m.

According to police, the aircraft, a 1946 Aeronca model 7AC, was being piloted by Roger L. Pointer, 69 of Maxwell, Iowa. The plane had left Florida enroute to Iowa when it appears that it experienced mechanical difficulties. They say Pointer tried to land on KY 181. The plane left the road and traveled into a field.

Pointer and his passenger, Michael D. Callison, 52 of Des Moines, Iowa, were not injured.

Trooper Craig Engler, Trooper Jim McArthur, and Todd County EMS responded to the scene. The Federal Aviation Administration will be continuing the investigation.
