COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The University of South Carolina Athletics Department is investigating whether there's been improper contact between star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and rapper Jay Z.

Jay Z recently started his own sports representation firm known as Roc Nation Sports.

According to NCAA rules, it's okay for a college player to talk with an agent, but they cannot accept money or anything of value.

Gamecocks Coach Steve Spurrier addressed the agent issue in an interview with ESPN Tuesday afternoon.

"Somebody asked me, 'What's your biggest concern for the summer,' and I said, 'Jadeveon Clowney stays quiet and nobody gets him to sell a T-shirt or a jersey or doesn't take any money,' because people are trying to give him money, and Jadeveon's had a very quiet summer, which is the way we like it," said Spurrier.

If Jay Z is able to sign Clowney following the end of the college football season, it would be the next big catch for the new agent.

Roc Nation Sports already represents New York Yankee Robinson Cano and Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant.

Dylan Thompson threw for three touchdowns and No. 24 South Carolina's maligned defense stood strong on a fourth-quarter goal line stand to topple No. 6 Georgia 38-35 on Saturday night.
No. 24 South Carolina's defense showed it's not nearly as bad as it looked two weeks ago - and maybe that No. 6 Georgia isn't the runaway favorite in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division.

Georgia can establish itself as a top-tier beast if it gets by South Carolina this weekend - and USC would drop to 0-2 in the league with a loss. Tennessee travels to Oklahoma, where Coach Bob Stoops doesn't believe the SEC is all-powerful.
