WILBRAHAM, MA (WSHM) -

While police continue to investigate the murder of Amy Lord, family and friends are honoring her memory in her hometown of Wilbraham, MA.

The news of Lord's tragic death sent shockwaves through the tight-knit Western Mass community.

The entire town, along with the Lord family, are in mourning.

Family and friends of Amy Lord gathered in Gazebo Park in Wilbraham Wednesday night to honor her life that was tragically cut short.

"It's hard to described feelings right now. I can't put into words. I'm both shocked and awe, and I can't even put it into words yet," said Lord's friend, Timothy Fortin.

Lord's body was found in Hyde Park in Boston Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the 2011 Bentley University grad was kidnapped near her apartment in South Boston that morning, driven to at least five ATM machines to withdraw cash, and then was brutally stabbed several times.

"There's no explanation that can define it. There's nothing anyone can say about it," said Lord family friend, Bill Bickley.

"I was physically sick to my stomach as soon as I heard her name," said Fortin.

Lord was a 2007 graduate of Minnechaug Regional High School, where she was an honor student and a star athlete on the cheerleading team.

"Everybody wanted Amy to be their daughter. She was the best kid. She was an angel. She was a great kid," said Bickley.

But Wednesday night, friends said they want to forget the horrific and senseless act that took Lord away from everyone who loved her and remember the vibrant life that she lived to the fullest.

"She was just a great kid. Everyone's going to tell you the same thing. She was an angel. She was a very special person. She was a real asset to the community, and she was going to go places," said Bickley.
