It’s a heavily debated issue that will come to a vote on the August ballot. It’s called "Right to Farm" or Amendment 1.Many farmers say it would protect them from too much government regulation, but other locals say it would keep the government from protecting the environment.

BENTON, MO (KFVS) -

A Sikeston man was taken into custody after an investigation involving a 3-year-old child.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter says Clinton David Burton, 24, of Sikeston was charged with the class C felony of abuse or neglect of a child and the class A misdemeanor of possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana.

He was taken to the Scott County Jail on a bond of $50,000 cash or surety.

Burton was arrested by a Scott County Sheriff's Detective after a joint investigation with the Missouri Department of Social Services Children's Division.

The sheriff's office was initially called to a Cape Girardeau hospital in reference to a suspicious injury to the arm of a 3-year-old child.

The detective says a green leafy substance was seen in plain view in the living room of the Burton residence during a follow-up concerning the investigation.
