Cobden man charged with Carbondale church theft out on bond

JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A Cobden man facing charges connected to a church theft in Carbondale have bonded out of jail.

Joshua D. Swain, 32, of Cobden was charged with theft over $100,000 from a place of worship and aggravated identity theft over $100,000. Both are felony charges.

According to the State's Attorney' Office, Swain is accused of theft from The View Church on Giant Road in Carbondale from 2011-June 2013.

Swain paid $10,000 in cash of a reduced bond, according to a spokesperson at the Jackson County Jail.

Swain's preliminary hearing has been reset to 08/20/2013 at 1 p.m.

The investigation continues.
