CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Soulful Harvest Ministries first opened its doors nearly two years ago. Now, it has outgrown its building and is expanding its reach in Cape Girardeau.

There was very little extra space on the pews on Sunday.

Pastor Scott Johnson says Soulful Harvest is growing in more than just numbers, but also in resources.

He says the ministry helps people from all walks of life through a variety of resources.

"I want all of my people to come up together," Pastor Scott Johnson said. "It don't matter what they look like, what color they are, where they come from, whether they're in addiction, coming out of addiction, how much money they make, whether they're homeless."

Pastor Johnson says Soulful Harvest is all about changing people's lives and changing the community. The plan is to become a center where people can get help with everything from finding employment to recovering from addictions.

One member of the ministry says he has found a home at Soulful Harvest.

“I’m a recovering addict myself,” Michael Hill said. “If you’ve trudged the road I’ve trudged and you’ve been through some of the things I’ve been through, come to Soulful Harvest Ministries and you will find a home. This is home. This is home to me and I love it. I can’t see anything else.”

As the ministry grows, so does the need for more space. The church has outgrown the building and is now looking for a bigger place to meet.

Until then, Pastor Johnson says Soulful Harvest will keep helping people get back on their feet.
