VIENNA, IL (KFVS) -

After four days, a standoff with officers in Johnson County ended and two brothers were arrested.

Charles F. Averitt, 79, of Vienna, and Clarence E. Averitt, 74, also of Vienna, were charged with aggravated assault to a peace officer. They were taken to the Massac County Jail.

According to Illinois State Police, a Johnson County Deputy Sheriff responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on Aug. 3 at a home on the 1800 block of Old Cypress Road. Charles and Clarence Averitt were inside and police say they refused to cooperate with them.

The two men barricaded theirselves inside the home. ISP deployed its SWAT unit and crisis negotiators to the scene.

According to ISP, around 5:15 on Tuesday, Aug. 6, both men left the home and were arrested without incident.

Police say other charges are pending as the investigation continues.

It's unclear what started the standoff in rural Vienna Saturday afternoon, but Johnson County Sheriff Elry Faulkner confirms it was still going on Tuesday.
