HOLDEN BEACH, NC (WECT) – A good Samaritan visiting Holden Beach returned a wallet that's been missing for more than 20 years, according to the original owner.

The Reddit user "shrivel" posted on the social news site that he received a phone call with the voice on the other end saying the wallet was found at "Holden's Beach."

The user wrote, "I almost start to deny that being possible, since I hadn't lost my wallet, but then I remembered."

Shrivel's family lives near Holden Beach, where he spent his annual vacation, according to the post. He said he was out water skiing when he realized he left his wallet in his swim trunks.

"As near as I can remember I was 19 years old and that was 24 years ago," reads the post.

Inside the Velcro wallet remained several school IDs, his ATM card and a library card.

"It was the one and only wallet I've ever lost in my entire life and I assumed it was gone forever," he wrote.
