ORAN, MO (KFVS) -

This weeks’ Heartland Cook comes from Oran, Missouri. June Simmons says she makes her Creamy Banana Pudding for every special occasion, and even some not-so-special ones. That's because June says of all her recipes - this is the dish everyone always requests. It is also ideal for hot summer says as it's quick, easy and requires no time in the oven!

Ingredients:

  • 1 can Eagle sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 small package vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 1 (8 oz.) tub of Cool Whip
  • 36 Vanilla wafers
  • 3 medium bananas (sliced)

Directions:

In a large bowl, combine condensed milk and water. Add pudding mix and beat well. Refrigerate for 5 minutes to chill. Using an electric mixer, beat Cool Whip into pudding.

Spoon one cup pudding mixture into the bottom of a 2 ½ quart glass bowl. Top with 12 wafers, slices of one banana and more pudding. Repeat layers two times, ending with pudding on top. Chill and garnish with crushed Nilla wafers if desired.

June’s tip: this creamy banana pudding will keep several days if refrigerated!

Enjoy!
