Justice for Molly supporters sign billboard in her memory

BUCKNER, IL -

Friends and family of Molly Young gathered along Highway 14 Saturday to sign one of four anonymously donated billboard signs that read “Justice for Molly.”

On March 24, 2012, 21-year-old Molly Young's body was found in her ex-boyfriend's apartment.

Investigators say Young had been shot in the head. Larry Young, Molly’s father, says the case has not been investigated thoroughly because of Molly’s ex-boyfriend’s connection to the police.

“The crime scene indicated that there was foul play but nothing was ever investigated about him,” Young said.

Now, Young said he’s searching for justice and won’t stop until he gets it.

“I’ve spent every waking hour fighting this case,” Young said. “I’ve ordered documents. I’ve ordered almost 2,000 pages of documents. I’m going through trying to figure out what investigations have been done and what hasn’t. Nothing has been done on it that I know of. I’m planning on hiring my own investigator to investigate the things that I have been asking for that have not been investigated.”

Young said the signs along Highway 14 serve as reminders that the supporters of Molly Young are not backing down.

"I see it as a marathon, not a 100-yard dash,” Young said. “It's going to take a long time to bring it to trial and once it comes to trial, it's going to take a long time, but we are ready for the long haul. We are going to be here fighting it every inch of the way."

Young said after all is said and done, he wants some good to come from this tragedy.

“Once we get justice, once we get this case resolved, we want to set up a scholarship in Molly's name in art because that was her main thing she loved in life, art and photography. We also want to help other people that are involved in officer involved domestic violence who can't get a voice."
