CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

A recent college graduate floating hundreds of miles down the Mississippi River stopped in Cape Girardeau this week.

Hannah Eck, 22, recently graduated from the University of North Carolina and received a grant to write a book.

She got a sponsorship for a raft and decided to float down the Mississippi River.

Eck started her journey just north of Stillwater, Minnesota 63 days ago.

She plans to float all the way to the Gulf of Mexico by November in the raft with two inflatable pontoons.

"If you're going to be a bear you might as well be a grizzly,' Eck said.."I wanted something to do after college. I graduated in May. I've been a whitewater rafting guide during the summers when I haven't been in school and I've always wanted to do a long trip."

Eck is interviewing interesting people along her journey and plans to write a book about her adventures.
