Autopsy results on Marion toddler inconclusive

MARION, IL (KFVS) -

Investigators call the initial autopsy results on a Marion toddler inconclusive.

Twenty-three-month-old Skyler West-France died last week.

According to the St. Louis City medical examiner's office, there should be more information about the child's death in 6 to 8 weeks.

Skyler's mom says her boyfriend, 25-year-old Kody Johnson was watching her son when the boy got hurt.

Johnson faces a charge of first-degree murder in connection with Skyler's death.

Investigators say Johnson told them the boy tripped and hit his head, but doctors told police that story didn't match the child's injuries.

Johnson is due in court next month.
