ARLINGTON, TX (WAFB) -

Last year's starting tailback Jeremy Hill stayed on the bench and former WAFB Sportsline Player of the Year Terrence Magee from Franklinton came off the bench to produced 95 yards on 13 carries and two touchdowns including the game winner, as No. 12 LSU outlasted No. 20 TCU 37-27 in the 2013 Cowboys Classic played in Arlington, Texas.

Magee's 52 yard TD gave the Tigers a 23-13 advantage and the 2010 Warrick Dunn Award winner added a second to give the Tigers a 30-17 lead.

Lutcher junior Jarvis Landry closed out LSU's scoring with a fourth quarter TD grab.

Hill and Saturday's starter Alfred Blue, plus Kenny Hilliard had all been listed ahead of Magee in the off-season depth chart. Hill apparently served a game suspension, although he did dress for the contest.

Senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger also had a big night with receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Landry.

In Cam Cameron's new offense, Mettenberger threw 22 passes in the first half, a clear indication Les Miles' offense opened up under Cameron's direction. Mettenberger finished with 16 completions in 32 attempts for 251 yards.

Landry wound up with a game-high eight catches for 109 yards, while Beckham had 118 yards on five receptions. This is the first time two wide receivers have surpassed 100 yards receiving for LSU since 2001.
