CHAMPAIGN, IL (KFVS) -

An Amber Alert has been canceled for a 13-year-old girl out of Champaign, Illinois after she was found in Cape Girardeau.

Authorities say 13-year-old Cleo M. Younce was taken by 21-year-old Nicholas R. Hurley.

According to Champaign Police, police found both the suspect and the girl walking out of the Cape Girardeau Wal-Mart just before noon.

Hurley was turned over to federal authorities. According to Darin Hickey with the Cape Girardeau Police Department, no charges have been filed yet. Hurley is being held in the Cape Girardeau County Jail.

The girl is safe, according to Champaign police. The Department of Family services is handling getting the girl back to her family. Her family has been notified.

At around 11:30 a.m. on Friday, officers from the Cape Girardeau Police Department got information from federal authorities that a suspect from an abduction in Illinois could possibly be in Cape Girardeau.

According to Cape Girardeau Police, officers responded to the Wal-Mart Supercenter on William Street where a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's vehicle was found.

Within a few minutes, the suspect and the missing 13-year-old were seen coming from the store.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident. He was being held for federal authorities because the girl was taken across state lines.

Officers were informed that Cleo left her home at 12:30 p.m. Thursday to go for a walk. Cleo later contacted her mother by telephone around 3:15 p.m. and informed her that she had been abducted.

Police confirmed the abduction happened in the 2400 block of Hathaway Dr. in Champaign on Thursday, September 5 at 3:24 p.m.

Detectives determined Younce was in the company of Hurley of Daleville, Indiana.

Hurley and Cleo are acquainted with each other through family friends, according to the City of Champaign.

They were traveling in a bronze 2000 Chevrolet Suburban with Indiana license 261-CTD.

Cape Girardeau police notified the Department of Family Services and told them Younce was safe and uninjured.

"We'll notify them anytime we have a juvenile victim," said Officer Darin Hickey. "They are trained in handling juvenile victims, investigations and handling of juvenile victims and getting them any medical help they would possibly need. Or keeping them calm and reuniting them back with their family."
