FARMINGTON, MO (KFVS) -

"Welcome home, thank you for your service, and we are proud of you," were three phrases soldiers heard a lot in Farmington, Missouri on Saturday.

The Missouri 1138th Engineer Company held a formal welcome home ceremony after spending nearly a year away from home.

The unit has been back from Afghanistan for a while now, but family and friends got another chance to congratulate them on a successful mission.

Family members are just thankful the deployment is complete.

"Daddy was doing a really important job and we would see him soon," said Leanne O'Callaghan, wife of a soldier. "We saw him a lot on Skype so I don't think they really realized what he was doing. They are really young. We just kept saying you will see him soon."

There were 93 citizen-soldiers in the National Guard unit from across the Heartland. All returned safely.
