Glass Wizard
By: Amy Jacquin

The $8 Glass Wizard is a triangular shaped pad that comes with different covers. For instance, the "Bug Bonnet" is made to scrape bug carcasses off your windshield. It's a plastic netting that slips over the triangular head.

You can use water or you can use glass cleaning solution. Amy Jacquin decides to use water because it's cheaper.

Directions say not to use too much water, "Go back and forth only. Or up and down." But it doesn't say anything about circles. I have to re-wet the windshield several times before all the bugs are gone.

And the big, flat surface of the Glass Wizard doesn't always work well with the curve of the windshield. And the bug bonnet definitely leaves streaks behind. That means we have to switch to the "cleaning bonnet."

"It's worse than dressing a Barbie!" Amy laughs when she's trying to switch the covers.

"This is supposed to give it a streak-free shine."

Directions say to continue wiping until its completely dry. You can definitely tell which half of the windshield Amy cleaned first! The news vehicle is driven by Fred Pennington, and he gives it a thumbs up.

"Over here, you can see and tell a lot of difference... more from inside than the outside," says Fred.

So it's time to do the other side."The bugs are coming off pretty easily," says Amy. "And I'm not rubbing that hard."But again, she says it's awkward working around the curve of the windshield."I have to use it differently," Amy explains. "I'm not holding it by the handle. I have to hold it on the pad to get pressure down there in that area."

But overall, the Glass Wizard did clean the windshield.

So Amy moves on to a bathroom mirror covered with hair spray, make-up and toothpaste spots."It does cover a lot of area at once, which is great when you have something nice and flat like this," nods Amy.

But it's not immediately streak-free."I just feel like I don't get even pressure," she says. "I get pressure right here, but not in the tips. And I really wish I had even pressure all over."

There are a few streaks left behind, but overall, the mirror looks pretty good.

You're not supposed to use a bonnet that's too dirty. But don't throw them away. You can put it in the washing machine.

The $8 Glass Wizard doesn't have magical powers, but it does do an average job. So it earn an average grade of C+.
