Basketball Hall of Fame inducts Class of 2013

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame has officially inducted its class of 2013.

Plenty of people were on hand Sunday afternoon for the red carpet festivities prior to the induction ceremony inside Symphony Hall.

Lots of big names were on hand, including Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird, who was the presenter for Brazilian star Oscar Schmidt.

Massachusetts native Chris Herren was in attendance, supporting his former coach and inductee, Jerry Tarkanian.

Herren told CBS 3 that it meant a lot to be on hand.

"Coach Tarkanian is a hall of fame basketball coach, but he's a hall of fame guy," said Herren. "What he taught me back in the day, his empathy and forgiveness, has transcended into my life when I needed it. I would fly to Alaska if he was being inducted, but it's great for him and great for his family to witness."
