Ky. jail employee charged with rape, promoting contraband

HENDERSON, KY (KFVS) -

A Henderson, Ky. jail employee is facing charges of rape and promoting contraband on Wednesday, September 11, according to Kentucky State Police.

Brittany L. Murch, 26, was charged with two counts of rape third degree and two counts of promoting contraband first degree.

KSP said the investigation began when authorities with the Henderson County Detention Center reported allegations of official misconduct with one of their employees.

Allegedly, Murch had inappropriate sexual relations with a state inmate at the facility in August. Police say further investigation revealed Murch brought methamphetamine and alcoholic beverages into the detention center.

Murch is being held in the Henderson County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing.
