Volunteers needed to pick up trash on National Public Lands Day

WAYNE COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Wappapello Lake is looking for volunteers to remove trash and litter along roads at Wappapello Lake.

National Public Lands Day 2013 (NPLD) is on September 28 from 8-11 a.m.

Afterwards, everyone will meet at Picnic Shelter #6, located in the Spillway Recreation Area for a free lunch and a variety of games and activities.

According to the Army Corps of Engineers, a day use pass will be given to each volunteer.

Day Use Passes are honored at all U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Day Use Areas.

Those interested should meet at the Wappapello Lake Project Office at 8 a.m. or contact Natural Resources Specialist Andrew Jefferson or Park Ranger Aaron Winchester by calling (573) 222-8562.
