GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

An 81-year-old Paducah man has died following a two-car crash in Graves County, Kentucky.

The deadly wreck happened shortly before 3:50 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Route 1241 and Route 408 east.

According to Kentucky State Police, 81-year-old Jack Garland was driving westbound on Route 408 when he approached the intersection at Route 1241. After his car came to a complete stop, he drove threw the intersection. Another driver who was traveling north on Route 1214, crested a hill at the same intersection.

The two vehicles collided, trapping Garland inside his vehicle. The other driver's vehicle came to rest in a gravel drive. Garland’s car continued to travel across the intersection after the initial collision, and came to rest in a wood line.

A 74-year-old passenger in Garland's car had initially refused treatment, but police say she later drove herself to Lourdes Emergency Room for her injuries.

Garland was flown by Air Evac to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee where he later died.

The investigation is continuing.

Kentucky State Police was assisted on scene by the Graves County Sheriff’s Department, Mayfield EMS, Mayfield Fire Department, and Air Evac Lifeteam.
