NEW MADRID COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Crews are searching for a man after a boat struck a barge on the Mississippi River in New Madrid County.

Two people were in the boat when it collided with the anchored barge around 7:25 p.m. Sunday. One person was able to drive the boat to a dock, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Christopher A. Wescoat, 27, of Matthews is missing, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Ronald D. Pipkin, 37, of New Madrid was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital. Corporal Clark Parrott with the Missouri Highway Patrol says Pipkin received medical treatment at a hospital for minor injuries and was released.

Crews searched overnight and a new crew was dispatched at daylight Monday to continue the search.

New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens says planes are searching in the air.

The Missouri Highway Patrol is sending a dive team.

No word on what caused the collision.
