(KFVS) -

It's Child Passenger Safety Week.

Authorities want to remind you to check your child's car seat.

They recommend rear facing seats from birth, to the height and weight limit of the seat, which should be around 2-years-old.

Forward facing seats should be places in the back seat, and will last until about the age of 4.

They say a booster seat is needed until about age 8.

And they remind parents seatbelts are for everyone older than 8 years old, or taller than 4'9".

They also want to remind parents, that all children younger than 13 years old should ride in the back seat.

There will at least two events in the Heartland Saturday for National Seat Check Saturday.

Good Samaritan Regional Health Center will hold a seat check Saturday at the Kroger parking lot in Mt. Vernon.

The Benton Fire Department in Benton, Illinois will also hold a safety check.

Both will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There, they will check proper installation of the car seats and advise how to choose correct safety seats.
