NBCUniversal News Group announced today the agenda of panel topics and participants for the fourth annual "Education Nation" Summit – which runs from Oct. 6-8 at The New York Public Library's Stephen A. Schwarzman building. This year's theme will explore "What It Takes" for us as a nation, to ensure students are successfully prepared for college, career and beyond, and will focus on student and teacher voices and stories throughout to frame the conversations. Leading experts and stakeholders – from parents and teachers, to policymakers and employers – will delve into critical factors that impact students' chances of success, including: well-trained teachers; access to higher education; active parenting; community support; early education; safe learning environments; attention to personal learning; high standards; and workforce readiness.

The three-day gathering brings together more than 300 of the country's top thought leaders and influencers in education, government, business, philanthropy and media to discuss the relationship between education and opportunity – helping to engage the U.S. in an unprecedented discussion about how to improve education and prepare our youth for the jobs of the future. NBCUniversal News Group's broadcast, cable and digital platforms will provide coverage of the guests and discussions throughout the Summit. The public is invited to join the conversation by uploading short videos with their thoughts on "What It Takes" for student success at EducationNation.com/WhatItTakes. Visitors to the "Education Nation" home at The New York Public Library can record their videos in person at the "What It Takes" interactive installation in Astor Hall.

"Education Nation" will kick off on Friday, October 4th, at 9:00AM/ET with an Opening Ceremony. Chancellor Dennis M. Walcott of the New York City Department of Education and Tony Marx, president of The New York Public Library, will join local students and representatives from NBC News and WNBC 4 New York at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. WNBC 4 New York Anchor Shiba Russell will emcee the event and portions will be covered by WNBC.

Below is an abbreviated agenda and list of participants. For additional details on timing and updates to the schedule, visit EducationNation.com.
