MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery Police Department says it has arrested and charged a man in connection with one of the two shootings that occurred on Wednesday, October 2nd.

Twenty-year old Dezkendre Perkins of Montgomery was arrested and charged with second degree assault following the shooting of a 15-year-old in the 3700 block of S. Court Street.

The first shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. on S. Court Street, approximately one block from the WSFA 12 News studios. Authorities say a 15-year-old male was injured in that shooting but suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The initial investigation indicates that the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the victim, Perkins and other individuals.

Perkins was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility and held on a bond of $2,500.

The second shooting was confirmed, police say, after an adult male walked into a local hospital's emergency room suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Police believe that shooting may have happened at the Pavillion Apartment homes on Park Towne Way but no additional information has been released.

Both shootings remain under investigation at this time, and police have not officially connected the two.
