LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Organizers of the St. James Court Art Show closed the event at 5 p.m. Saturday and will not open Sunday because of weather concerns.

The decision was made after a meeting with city and emergency officials. Heavy rain and the possibility of storms are expected through Sunday.

Vendors were packing up quickly on Saturday when the rain took a break for a few hours.

"So much of the work is paintings and that sort of thing they don't hold up well with the wet weather," said organizer Joann Marquart.

For jewelry artist E. Douglas Wunder, he was disappointed that event was cut short but understood why.

"I made very few dollars which is sort of a drag, tomorrow no hope, yesterday was mediocre," said Wunder. "I handed out a lot of cards. I think everyone will be back next year. Maybe I'll be back next year.  It will all be good."

This was the 57th year for the event. For a list of the vendors who attended the St. James Court Art Show click here: http://www.stjamescourtartshow.com/
