BOLLINGER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

An armed and dangerous man wanted in Bollinger County has been arrested in Texas, according to Bollinger County Sheriff Darin Shell.

Shell said 21-year-old Nicholas Loughary was arrested in Webb County, Texas on the Mexican border. He is being held there now.

He said Loughary was stopped by border patrol in Laredo, Texas. Authorities seized his vehicle and a shot gun.

Loughary is facing eight felony charges in Bollinger County, including burglary and stealing. He also faces sexual assault charges in St. Francois County, which allegedly happened before the weekend's alleged theft and manhunt.

Loughary was last seen driving a white 2008 Ford Ranger extended cab.

Officers say the truck was stolen from Whippoorwill Campground in Marble Hill, Mo. They warned he was armed and to not approach him, to contact authorities.

Shell said Loughary has no violent record, but information found in his home leads him to believe that he is dangerous.

He reportedly stole the vehicle at the campground from somewhere between 10:30 p.m. Saturday night and 7 a.m. Sunday morning. He's been on the run ever since.

Loughary also allegedly stole a shotgun and took the barrel off and took about $3,000. All three items, vehicle, shotgun and money apparently belonged to the campground owner.

The sheriff felt this was a case they weren't taking any chances with. Shell said they had reason to believe that Loughary has emotional issues.

There was a reason to believe Loughary may harm himself, someone else or authorities. The message to public was do not approach him.
