NEW ORLEANS, LA - For the second time this season, LSU senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger has been recognized as a Manning Award "Star of the Week" after throwing for 340 yards and two touchdowns in a 59-26 win at Mississippi State last Saturday.

Fans can now vote for Mettenberger as the Manning Award Player of the Week until 11 a.m. CT Thursday at the Facebook link - http://on.fb.me/GJAv0y

Mettenberger became the fifth quarterback in LSU history to throw for 300 yards in back-to-back games joining a prestigious list that includes Matt Flynn (2007), Rohan Davey (2001), Tommy Hodson (1989) and Jeff Wickersham (1983). His 25 completions against the Bulldogs were the most by an LSU quarterback since Rohan Davey had 31 in the 2002 Sugar Bowl against Illinois.

For the season, Mettenberger is on a record pace having thrown for 1,738 yards and 15 touchdowns, which leads the Southeastern Conference. Mettenberger's season completion percentage of 68.2 currently ranks first in school history, while his 35 pass completions of 20 yards or more lead the nation.

Mettenberger, the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, leads the conference and ranks fourth nationally in pass efficiency with a rating of 190.1.

Blake Sims was good enough to finish his first start at quarterback for Alabama, getting plenty of help from Amari Cooper, T.J. Yeldon and Derrick Henry, and the second-ranked Crimson Tide held off West Virginia...
Blake Sims took a seat on the bench next to Jake Coker after leading Alabama to a score and the two chatted for a few minutes before it was time for the offense to go back on the field.
