ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A former marine accused of beating a Surf City cab driver pleaded guilty in court Monday to assault inflicting serious injury, WITN reports.

The driver, Charles Hawkesworth, had a camera rolling when he picked up former Gunnery Sgt. Adam Kinosh last September and Kinosh beat him.

Kinosh apologized to Hawkesworth during the sentencing.

He will also have to pay Hawkesworth $8,654 in lost wages, plus his medical and counseling fees. Additionally, Kinosh will have to complete post traumatic stress disorder counseling, be under house arrest for a year, not consume alcohol during probation and not communicate with the victim.

Hawkesworth suffered a fractured cheekbone and permanent nerve damage, and he can't breathe out of his left nostril. Additionally, he says he had thousands of dollars in medical bills and still has trouble sleeping.

In court, Kinosh's lawyer said he had no recollection of the beating, but remembers drinking a lot.
