MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A Mid-South mother watched a man shoot both of her children in her driveway. The shooting suspect, Aaron Dumas, was later found dead in a bathtub in a burned house after being involved in a shootout with police for hours.

Angelique White, 29, and her brother Christopher, 23, are still recovering at The MED. Bonita White says Dumas is her daughter's ex-boyfriend.

"This has been very hard ... [These are] my babies," said White. "It's been something I had envisioned ... Had dreams about [it for] three and a half years."

Bonita said Dumas made threats to kill the family before her children were shot on Galveston Drive October 7. According to Bonita, there was a disturbance a week prior to the incident, but her daughter did not press charges.

"You listen and you hear things like that. You think it's an idle threat ... He made good on his threat. It makes me very, very angry," said Bonita.

When Bonita's son and daughter came outside on the driveway, Dumas became enraged.

"I could see the look in his eyes. He pulled out a Bible out of his pants and put it on the hood of his truck. When I went in to call 911 ... While I was on the phone talking to 911, all I heard was gunshots," continued White.

Dumas was a part of their lives for three and a half year, according to Bonita's other daughter Dominique.

The family watched Dumas' deeds unfold Tuesday from their loved ones' hospital rooms inside The MED. Dumas shot two police officers during the standoff.

"That's a sign of evil. I mean if you've got intent. You're gonna shoot the police officer, which I believe was serving him the warrant," said Bonita.

Bonita is hoping her children recover, despite the prognosis that her daughter may never walk again.
