Sikeston students design pink shirts to raise money for mammograms

Posted: Updated:
SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -

Students in Sikeston are preparing for their next big football game. This time though, they are focusing on breast cancer awareness.

Students in the Graphic Arts Department are designing pink shirts for the Pink Out game. They anticipate selling enough shirts to see a sea of pink in the stands.

This is their second year to design the shirts. So far they have made around 600 shirts.

They have raised $6,600 so far. Their goal is to raise $10,000 and give half to the Missouri Delta's Delta Imaging Center. This program will use the money to provide free mammograms to those who can't afford it. They will also use the money to help update the technology they use to provide screenings.

Shirts will be sold in the Sikeston High School Cafeteria and also at the Sikeston football game Friday night.
