TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The 2013 pre-general election campaign finance reports have been filed, and Toledo Mayor Mike Bell has raised twice as much money for his re-election bid as his opponent, Councilman Mike Collins.

The reports show the mayor has raised $189,744.59, with the largest single contribution being a $15,000 check from the Leadership Fund of Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce. Collins has raised $96,701.25, with the largest single contribution of $15,000 from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers PAC.

Collins says it's exactly what he was expecting.

"I'm not surprised the mayor was able to do that, given the people and organizations who seek and receive political support," Collins said. "Frankly, I'm surprised he didn't get more."

Collins says between now and Nov. 5 he's going to maintain the same approach that helped him to clear the primary in hopes of victory on election night.

"We are not going to change our campaign. We're going to be moving in the direction that we have found successful," he said.

Mayor Bell says even though he's raised twice as much money as his challenger, he's taking nothing for granted.

"It's still about getting people to the polls and for them to come out and vote," Bell said. "We're going to continue to get our message out. I'm taking everything that's going on seriously. I'm not underestimating my opponent's capabilities."
