MCCLURE, IL (KFVS) -

Multiple fire crews were on the scene of a house fire Friday in McClure, Illinois.

The home was located on Grapevine Trial and Bridge Street.

Smoke and flames could be seen coming from the home late Friday morning.

The house belongs to Stanley Mouser, the East Cape-McClure Fire Chief. No one was home at the time, and no one was injured.

Flames continued to show from the roof of the charred home around 1:15 p.m.

Fire crews don't know a cause of the fire at this time.

"We was coming back from cape and we seen the smoke all the way from Cape," said Terry Sneed.

"They've been our neighbors for probably 30 years," said Ron Creecy.

"Oh man it shocked everybody, it was really unexpected, we was just hoping for the best that the family wasn't home," said Sneed.

"It's a shame because I know they don't have anything right now but the clothes on their back," said Creecy.

"It does appear at this time that the house is a total loss, it does appear to be accidental," said East Cape-McClure Fire Captain Brandan Sichling.

"It's a shame, that house has been here since I've been able to walk through here, i'm 71 today and it's been here a lot longer than that," said Creecy.
