Rantankerous [ran-tank'uhr-us] (adjective) - A combination of rant [to speak in a wild or extravagant manner] and cantankerous [contentious, disagreeable]. The word is a creation of the Raycom Digital Hub staff and the only suitable description for the arguments between Brian "What We Learned" Tynes and George "Hot Reads" Jones, which until now have never been recorded.

(RNN) - Though we agree on nothing, we're both overjoyed that the BCS will be buried and hopefully forgotten in a manner of months.

Until then, we can debate who deserves their current BCS rankings - especially Oregon at No. 2.

While Florida State is beating teams so soundly that we actually forget their names, Oregon is beating people so badly you forget scoring 55 points a game is not normal.

Also this week:

How important are cheerleaders to athletic competitions, and what are the wackiest ways a World Series could end?

Include your thoughts and disagreements of your own in the comments section below, and look for new editions of Rantankerous in the coming weeks.

Dylan Thompson threw for three touchdowns and No. 24 South Carolina's maligned defense stood strong on a fourth-quarter goal line stand to topple No. 6 Georgia 38-35 on Saturday night.
No. 24 South Carolina's defense showed it's not nearly as bad as it looked two weeks ago - and maybe that No. 6 Georgia isn't the runaway favorite in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division.

Georgia can establish itself as a top-tier beast if it gets by South Carolina this weekend - and USC would drop to 0-2 in the league with a loss. Tennessee travels to Oklahoma, where Coach Bob Stoops doesn't believe the SEC is all-powerful.
