FARMINGTON, MO (KFVS) -

Edith Rogers said her family lived in Stuttgart, Germany during the Holocaust.

"Without them, I would not be here today," Rogers said. "I'm a holocaust survivor. My family died in the Holocaust, most of them."

Rogers said she still remembers that moment when men like veteran Austin Bagby showed up to liberate her.

"We had no air cover, no back up," Bagby said. "We were just on our own."

On their own, fighting for Edith Rogers and the rest of the folks who came to the Civic Center in Farmington to give these men a heroes send-off.

"I'm enjoying every minute of this," said World War II veteran Casper Stafford. "This is a great bunch of older people and a great bunch of kids."

A few pictures later, a walk down the red carpet and these veterans step closer to seeing their memorial.

Then right before the bus took off, Rogers boarded to deliver a special message, a message she's waited 70 years to say.

"Thank you," Rogers said. "Of course, I admire all military personnel, but the WWII veterans, they are my big heroes and will always be."
