FREDERICKTOWN, MO (KFVS) -

The Fredericktown High School student council held a Veteran's Day assembly Friday morning at the school.

The high school's band and choir performed patriotic songs while dozens of US Army, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard veterans were recognized.

The student council and Jr. ROTC presented a POW/MIA wreath. A moving rendition of Taps was played by two students to recognize fallen soldiers of war and those who have died.

In addition, there was an unveiling of "Thankful Hands," a US flag made up of handprint cutouts.

Veterans ate breakfast before the assembly with ROTC members at the high school.
