CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri will hold its third annual Dessert Auction to raise money for the dogs and cats at the Cape Girardeau shelter. Among the desserts up for auction – Humane Society Director Kelly Goff’s Highbrow Mocha Puppy Chow. It’s a sinfully decadent coffee, chocolate and peanut butter treat that will leave you and your two-legged friends barking and begging for more!

Ingredients:

  • 9 cups Chex cereal
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • ½ cup peanut butter
  • 1 ½ cups store bought brownie mix
  • 3 - 4 Tablespoons instant coffee

Directions:

Measure out cereal in large bowl and set aside.

Pour brownie mix and instant coffee into a separate large bowl or gallon size Ziploc bag and mix well.

Add chocolate and peanut butter to a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in microwave 30 seconds at a time. Stir between each cooking increment until melted and smooth.

Pour melted chocolate over Chex cereal. Mix gently until cereal is well coated by chocolate-peanut butter sauce.

Spoon covered Chex into Ziploc or bowl containing brownie and coffee mixture. Shake or stir until cereal pieces are coated with powder.

Allow puppy chow to cool completely before eating or storing.
