NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Two men who stole a vehicle and trailer, attempted to steal an ATM, and led police on a wild chase have been arrested.

Police say, Kevin Sowell, 20, and Carlos Murillo, 28, stole a pickup truck from a business at 2300 Kline Avenue and then took a trailer from an unidentified owner.

The thieves drove the vehicle into the Sun Trust Bank on McGavok Pike and attempted to steal an ATM. The men were unable to remove the machine from the building and drove off.

Officers spotted the suspects and attempted to pull the vehicle over. Sowell, the driver, rammed the cruiser and fled, then rammed a second police car.

Authorities pursued the vehicle on Briley Parkway ,reaching speeds up to 80 miles per hour, and deployed spike strips, before the suspects crossed the highway and sped off in the opposite direction.

The driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

One suspect was apprehended on Averitt Drive. The second suspect was caught on Drummond Drive when he was injured after falling down a hill and was taken Summit Hospital for treatment. 

Sowell, 2 is charged with 3 counts of aggravated assault on police officers, auto theft, theft, evading arrest, DUI, driving on revoked license and drug possession.

Murillo is charged with 3 counts of aggravated assault on police officers, auto theft, theft and evading arrest.

The investigation is ongoing.
