BLANDFORD, MA (WSHM) -

Massachusetts State Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down a vehicle they believe struck a 31-year-old Pittsfield woman late Friday night.

Police said she sustained serious injuries from the incident and was taken to Baystate Medical Center.

Police believe the woman was struck while possibly hitchhiking on the westbound side of the Mass Pike.

They found her shortly after 11 p.m., laying against the guardrail just west of the North Road overpass.

Their preliminary investigation showed she had been a passenger in a vehicle, but exited that vehicle for unknown reasons.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police's Westfield barracks at 413-572-3100.

New federal regulations have changed what many kids who attend public schools eat for lunch at school. However, some area private schools don't have to follow those rules and have come up with their own new school lunch program.
