WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Fire department officials told CBS 3 that the cause of Saturday night's house fire on Warren Street has been deemed electrical.

The department received the call about the fire at 8:07 p.m.  They said crews did not leave the scene for four hours and they returned to finish their investigation on Sunday morning.

Investigators are not considering the cause of the fire suspicious, and they said that while the house is under renovation, that did not contribute to the start of the fire.

CBS 3 returned to the scene of the fire on Sunday morning, but residents asked our crew to leave and would not comment on the incident.

CBS 3 media partner Mass Live and The Republican reported that the family that lives in the home escaped safely and would be staying with relatives in the area.
