Man breaks into W. Nashville Masonic Lodge in front of witnesses

Posted: Updated:

A man broke into the West Nashville Masonic Lodge on Charlotte Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Right across the street, customers at the M.L. Rose restaurant saw the entire burglary while having lunch on the front patio. Some recorded the break-in on their cell phones while others called police. Witnesses say he broke out one of the front windows to get in. Some customers camped out in the front and back of the lodge to make sure the suspected burglar didn't leave.

"With technology now days, we had a phone so we took video," said Kendall Wright, who witnessed the break in. "A guy is beating at the window. You could hear the audio of it and he just climbed through the window," he said. When police entered the lodge with a k-9, they found the suspect hiding inside a closet.

The suspect suffered multiple bites from the K-9. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. He now faces burglary charges.
