COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A man in Columbus County who was arrested with a police chief has taken a plea.

According to prosecutors, James Scott pleaded guilty last Friday to several counts of trafficking opium and heroin with pain medicine.

In 2012, Scott, Marty Lewis who was the police chief in Fair Bluff at the time, town clerk Tamika Packer, and two other people were arrested following a long drug investigation.

Prosecutors said Scott will not be sentenced until he testifies against Marty Lewis.
