AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

A 19-year-old man is facing charges after Richmond County deputies say he accidentally shot his friend to death during "horse play."

Dominique Shaquille Sullivan is charged with involuntary manslaughter, possession of a firearm or knife during a crime and pointing or aiming a firearm at another, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies said Sullivan accidentally shot his friend, 18-year-old Delarrion Smith, around 6:39 p.m. Monday night when the two were playing around with a gun.

Smith went to 2560 Andorra Drive to pick up Sullivan and give him a ride, according to the sheriff's office. When Sullivan got in the vehicle, Smith pulled out a handgun and pointed it at Sullivan in a playful manner.

Deputies said Sullivan then grabbed the gun, removed the magazine, pointed the gun at Smith and pulled the trigger, believing the gun was unloaded.

Smith was shot in the chest. EMS transported him to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
