WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Sleepy Hollow has been stirring up scares every week.
We're taking a closer look at what goes into creating some of the show's creepiest characters.
All of the creatures are brought to life by the Sleepy Hollow hair and makeup team.
And some are designed to give you nightmares, according to co-producer Damian Kindler.
"We all want to know what the sandman does when he invades your dreams," Kindler said. "But you kind of what to feel a little bit of regret that you joined that journey, cause it's going to be super scary."
He said the creations keep him up at night.
"I don't like scary movies," he said. "I try to watch them on a plane and then I get freaked out on a plane. It's bad. I sometimes wonder why I ended up working on such a scary show."
But makeup artist Corey Castellano said he's not spooked.
"I get to see everything from the beginning to the end," he said. "So, I see It from the written page, to the hiring of an actor to actually executing it on stage."
It takes hours of makeup and hair work to get the look of just right, not just for the show's monsters but for the show's stars too.
Tom Mison, who plays Ichabod Crane, rocks revolutionary clothes but that's not all, his hair must be historically accurate too.
Hair department director KG Ramsey said his teams look through history books to find the right colonial dos.
He said Mison sits in his trailer for an hour and a half before shooting to get his wig fitted and attached securely.
A lot of fans wonder if Crane will ever get a modern-day makeover. No word yet on if or when that may happen.
Mison told us, he enjoys wearing the period costumes.
"My grandmothers are very happy that I'm in period costume," he said. "My grandmothers are pleased. It's the main thing. That's the focus of my entire career to please my grandmothers."
