Beech Island woman pleads guilty to submitting false time sheets

Posted: Updated:

A South Carolina woman pleaded guilty to making false statements about the number of hours she worked as an employee of a subcontractor for the National Security Agency.

Allison Michelle Waddell, 33, of Beech Island claimed she worked almost 750 more hours than she actually did, according to the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia. The government paid her $60,000 more than she was actually owed.

Waddell worked as an analytic reporter for an NSA subcontractor from August 2009 to October 2010 and again from October 2011 to September 2012, according to evidence presented last week during her guilty plea hearing. During that time, she submitted numerous time sheets falsely stating the number of hours she worked.

Waddell faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The court also can order Waddell to pay full restitution.  As part of her plea agreement with the government, Waddell has already paid $10,000 toward restitution.

New federal regulations have changed what many kids who attend public schools eat for lunch at school. However, some area private schools don't have to follow those rules and have come up with their own new school lunch program.
