Massive fire destroys apartments in Hermitage

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Nashville firefighters are working to determine the cause of a two-alarm apartment fire near the Nashville Shores water park Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out at about 2:40 a.m. at the Arbours of Hermitage, which is near the corner of Old Hickory Boulevard and Bell Road.

When first responders arrived, flames were visible through the roof of the three-story apartment building. The fire was so intense that crews immediately called for additional units.

Officials say the fire may have started near an upper floor apartment. The investigation is ongoing, and officials say it is not expected to be completed this week due to the extent of the damage.

Eight apartments were destroyed in the fire and are without power. The Red Cross responded to the scene to help the displaced residents.

No injuries have been reported.
